Andy’s mum Maree is in the kitchen to set an elimination challenge inspired by some of the Allen household’s classic retro dishes. Contestants must make them MasterChef worthy, or risk going home.

LOL… The flabbergasted looks of the contestants after seeing what Andy ate while growing up, too funny! I am familiar with the pine burger but not the name, we just call it muffin pizza, LOL… I do still make it occasionally because it is actually not that bad and it’s quick to make as a snack!

In the days before internet, apart from cookbooks or magazines, the most common ways of learning new recipes were from the recipes printed on the back of packaged ingredients or canned food, and many are recipes using mostly pantry ingredients, so here’s an ode to the Jelly Slice… For the fruit salad, just add berries to the liquid jelly before setting…

Sichuan Whole Fried Barramundi with Sweet and Sour Sauce (Lachlan Whittle)
Turnip Cake Eggs Benny (Mimi Wong) – please note that the “turnip” used here is luobo 蘿蔔 or now commonly known as daikon radish. This rice cake is very commonly wrongly called “Turnip Cake” or “Carrot Cake” but neither turnip nor carrot are used. It all originated with trying to translate the name luobo in Chinese into English in the old days before westerners knew what luobo 蘿蔔 (Chinese name) or daikon 大根 (Japanese name) was and wrongly translated as “turnip” or “white carrot”.
Gorges Lobster Omelette (Josh Perry)

Ep 19, Tuesday, May 21, 2024
The punk princess of pastry, Anna Polyviou returns with a Pressure Test created especially for this challenge. Never has an egg on toast looked so intimidating as Anna’s Sunny Side Up.

  1. I do not like new 2024 it’s not the judges but the music we did not want a musical we wanted to hear what was going on. I know many that say it’s to hard to follow with all the music playing so loud. What is it
