The amateur cooks are given one hour to recreate their signature dish for the first of the two Judges’ Auditions. The judges introduce the nine past winners of Masterchef, who are there to cheer them on.

After handing out 18 aprons on the first day of cooking, the judges are looking for six more cooks to round out the top 24. The cooks who were given a second chance will battle it out in a challenge.

Ep 7, Tuesday, May 15, 2018
The winner of the mystery box challenge and the three best-performing cooks from the invention test will compete for immunity, with Shannon Bennett back in the kitchen to guide and mentor the contestants.

Round 1: Egg Challenge – Cook a dish using eggs in 45 minutes

Winner: Chloe

Soba Noodles With A Six Minute Egg (Chloe Carroll)

Round 2: Chef Challenge
Guest Chef: Bennelong’s Shui Ishizaka (Appetite for Excellence Young Chef of The Year 2017)

Chloe gets to pick 10 ingredients from a table of 50 ingredients and make a dish in 75 minutes. The guest chef must use the same 10 ingredients but only have 60 minutes to cook.

Chloe’s chosen ingredients: chillies, shallots, bacon, fennel, mushrooms, prawns, pumpkin, asparagus, parsley, garlic

Chloe – Gary 8 + George 8 + Matt 8 = 24 (no immunity pin awarded)

The contestants find themselves on the turf of the iconic MCG for the first team challenge. Split into two teams, each must cook delicious and nutritious food for 50 diners using a different protein.

Each team must make 2 canapés, 1 main course, 1 dessert.

The bottom three contestants from the previous invention test will face off in this episode’s pressure test. The contestants have 75 minutes to complete four of Nigella Lawson’s favourite chocolate dishes.

Tonight, in a team service challenge, it will be a battle of the brunches, as two groups of 10, they take over two cafes. Contestants will have real customers, with real orders and real dockets.

In one of the biggest surprises of the season so far, and in a program first, Gordon Ramsay enters the kitchen for a mystery box challenge.

With Gordon Week off to a flying start, the bottom three contestants in the invention test roll up to the kitchen ready to cook for their place in the competition with a pressure test.

Ep 18, Tuesday, May 29, 2018
Our mystery box winner and the top two dishes from the invention test will have the chance to cook for immunity with Gordon Ramsay as their mentor.

Ep 19, Wednesday, May 30, 2018
The contestants enter the kitchen only to find Gordon Ramsay, who is already yelling at them to hurry up. Divided into two teams, they prepare a three-course meal for 50 diners.

Ep 20, Thursday, May 31, 2018
It’s the last day of Gordon week. The team who lost the service challenge will have to cook for their lives.
