SBS has made Thursday night the night for culinary shows for a few years now, but other channels are getting in on the act with Channel 10 currently showing Jamie’s 15-Minute Meals and last week ABC1 started airing Nigellissima, also scheduled on Thursday night. Why do TV networks insist on cramming cookery shows on the same night? Infuriating!
Well, tonight the originator SBS ONE is premiering a new show from BBC, Exploring China: A Culinary Adventure, at 8:30pm. This is a four-part series from Ken Hom, more well-known in the northern hemisphere as the godfather of Chinese cuisine, and Ching-He Huang, British food writer and TV chef of the contemporary generation. Together they undertake an epic 4,500-kilometre culinary adventure across China – not only to reveal its food, but its people, history, culture and soul.
This looks interesting and I am looking forward to watching the series, but it is on at the same time as Nigellissima, so one of them will be getting the PVR treatment…
