    • Probably needs a rest after doing 4 series of the show, LOL… There are just so many recipes you can show, after that it is more and more tweaking of the same recipes… Gary left after 2 series, so she has done twice as many as Gary…

    • She was bullied. People (or atleast one woman in particular) sent her hate emails, it made her draw a line in the sand and quit. Sad. I love janella. The show is a but awkward now I think.

      • I have to agree Zoe is just boring. She is probably a lovely person but I cant enjoy the show anymore with her on it. She is like an old school Mum they way she presents. I did enjoy Janella much, much more. She was real. Zoe seems to try to hard I think.

    • God your a hard lot to please its early days.Wheres that so called Aussie spirit of giving someone a fair go,obviously Janellas busy schedule she needed time for her other interests I suspect.

      Comment by Pam Baars — January 19, 2013 @ 5:12 pm | Reply

    • I agree. Some say Janella was tough on Adrian. She has a dry sense of humour which worked well with his humour.

  10. I still watch the show, Richo is great. Zoe is fine sorta, she does seem to be a yes person & not challenge Richo like Janella did. I would like to see Janella start her own series like “Real Good Chef”or something of a similar nature.

  13. still waiting to hear what happened to Janella. Much more personable than Zoe. I don’t care how many shows Zoe has ‘only’ donel; she behaves as though she is much more superior than Adrian. Janella had a much greater sense of humour

    Comment by Robyn Dann — January 24, 2013 @ 7:09 pm | Reply

    • Robyn – you have to be kidding. Janella was the quintessential smart-arse – but wait – is that what you need to be to succeed on tele?

      Comment by Lyn T — January 24, 2013 @ 8:12 pm | Reply

      • Seems like it is a competition of who can upstage who and the winner gets the show lol!

        Comment by Bec — January 24, 2013 @ 8:26 pm | Reply

      • Janella was not a smart arse, she was great, she challenged Adrian’s love of over indulgence, get your facts right

    • Your hard to please people, at the moment we have the best of both worlds, Janella in the morning and Zoe in the afternoon. So people stop complaining don’t like Zoe don’t watch. Just watch the morning repeat.

      Comment by Pam Baars — January 25, 2013 @ 6:49 am | Reply

  14. I do miss Janella but all good things must come to an end, lets give Zoe a chance. I tape both shows so I get the best of both worlds. Janella and Adrian had been together a long time and of course Zoe’s sense of humour is very different to Janella’s but am sure that she will settle in well.

    Comment by Margaret Brooke — January 25, 2013 @ 7:59 am | Reply

  15. I really like this Zoe girl. I find her believeable as “good chef”. She looks fit and healthy. It was a little hard to be taking healthy cooking advice from Janella when she looked like she’d indulged in one too many of Adrian’s recipies.

    Comment by Sarah — January 25, 2013 @ 10:34 am | Reply

    • Please read this blog post written by Janella earlier this year. Maybe that’s why she decided to take a break from doing the show.

      Comment by SeaDragon — January 25, 2013 @ 12:05 pm | Reply

      • Yes I read that and most likely very valid but TV viewers aren’t interested in that, they are only interested in what they see. If TV people want viewers to be more understanding then TV is not the correct forum. It is a knack to be liked and some have it or they have great publicists! By the way, it beats me how those chefs stay slim with all that fat they use and not to mention salt.

        Comment by Bec — January 25, 2013 @ 12:55 pm | Reply

      • Thanks for posting the blog link. The people posting hateful comments about Janella’s weight need a reminder that she’s more than just an image on the screen. There are a myriad of factors that affect and shape an individual’s life. Making narrow minded judgements and derisive comments about other people is truly a sad reflection of themself.

    • What a horrible statement, your saying Janella was unfit, that is the most ridiculous statement I have heard, there was absolutely nothing wrong with Janella she was healthy. So Sarah should we all be like a stick, and then we are considered healthy, well shame on you. Leave Janella alone.

    • Before you make such rash statements about Janella, maybe you should do some research. I feel sorry for narrow, small minded people like you. Janella is a good person & is not perfect. I guess you think you are though. Sad little person.

      • instead of calling people names, like sad little person, why not actually read what was written. it was said that she looked as though she had overindulged…..NOT that she had. i personally was not concerned about how she looked, but her insistence on putting down everything that was said by her joint chef……she would not be flexible in the least and was always critical of what he would serve. Zoe on the other hand is more flexible and easier to listen to, she acknowledges that although she is not fond of all he cooks, everyone likes variety!!!! so stop the name calling and remember that no one is perfect………..

    • Very interesting why the show is so divisive. There was a US version of GCBC and it was styled more like Zoe/Richo. Janella seems to bring out strong emotions in people. Seems to bring out combativeness and Aussies like like that type of format. Seriously though people you should not get all upset about Janella and her reasons for not/being on the show it is her business and we will never know the reason why.

  26. Dislike both Janella and the new Zoe. It should just be called “Good Chef” and be hosted by Richo only. Janella was patronising with her constant comments about Richo’s food being “Bad” and the new co-host Zoe acts like she’s so great because she eats healthy. This show is lame.

  29. I enjoyed Janella despite her superior demeanour. She and Richo had serious chemistry, such dynanism providing a show greater than it’s parts. Zoe is flat as a tack, so all we are now getting is just another show with two chefs cooking two styles – whoopy-do! I will continue to watch in case a familiarity between the chefs grows to the point where I no longer feel ill at ease by Zoe’s awkward, lacklustre approach. Richo is effervescent regardless. What a passionate sweetheart. And that’s what is now missing – Janella’s fervent passion. The show should now be called Great Personality, Flat personality !

    • Janella was definitely her own person & she offered variety to the show that was great. I liked her very much & believe the show was great with her & Richo as a team. Unfortunately the all mighty dollar came into it & she was not satisfying the sponsors requests. Its a shame, but I guess thats reality, sadly.
Im sure Zoe is a nice person & I still like watching GCBC, but it just not as good as it was in my opinion. It is hard to please all the people all the time, actually impossible I think.Lets all support Zoe in this show & Janella with what she is doing & be happy. Cheers.

The interaction between the two chefs was great fun to watch, never disrespectful and always with a good amount of humor. I learned a lot from both. I will definitely keep up with Janella via her website.

  34. I miss Janella. I enjoy watching Adrian and Zoe, but I am sadly a creature of habit and wish it was Adrian and Janella. I have read Janella’s blog and I think it is sad that so many have commented on her weight. I know of many vegetarians/vegans/healthy eaters who are not a ‘perfect size 10’ but they are healthier and fitter than anyone I know. I believe many of the negative comments are from people who have very limited empathy and perhaps these people haven’t had the opportunity to have a friendship where it is ok to disagree. I hope Janella finds the happiness she is after and I cannot wait to buy her cook books and perhaps see her again (maybe on her own cooking show)

        • The fact that she didn’t cook with meat was the whole concept of the name of the show, ie Good Chef Bad Chef, so really the sponsors of the show got it very wrong when they got rid of Janella. In saying that I don’t mean that meat is bad, its just that she was giving an alternative for people. It really is their loss & ours, her going.

I don’t usually like critical behaviour, but somehow Janella got away with it, I though the sparing was amusing and Adrian took it well, I even suspected Janella might have had a crush on Adrian, cute. They had chemistry without the dross, which is so rare these days, a bit like Margaret and David. But Zoe comes across as a very nice person, if anything I think Adrian isn’t so sure what to say anyone more. Good luck to all of them.

Any relationship takes time to develop and Zoe has great recipes! I also really enjoy that she tries Adrians’ food without looking like it’s going to kill her.

It was a little embarrassing watching a cooking show and not really paying attention to the cooking. The twinkle in the eye, the twang in the voice, the bravura, the fire. Janella had a lot of sex appeal. No, she was hot! She is a kitchen goddess. If anything the format is too limited. Foodie doco’s would suit her better. I’m sad that I can’t indulge my TV crush anymore. Possibly wasn’t healthy. Unlike her passion for her recipes. I hope I see her elsewhere; pulling vegetables out of dirt on a sunny hillside and telling me just how good they are for me.

  64. I miss Janella SO MUCH! Zoe towers over Adrian and makes him feel uncomfortable. Their dynamic is so awkward. Please bring Janella back and get rid of Zoe (sorry Zoe, you just lack chemistry with Adrian, nothing personal). The show is just hard to watch now.

  65. I watched GCBC today and find there’s no chemistry or togetherness between Zoe and Adrian. Zoe comments but theres little acknowledgement of what she says by Adrian as he moved along to the next step in the recipe. Its almost like she’s not there to him. Also noted that she stares too much into his face while he is talking and he rarely looks at her. Maybe she’s ok being in someone’s personal space but on the show as we see it its too close especially when Adrian doesn’t reciprocate to make conversation. All in all, I think you need both prrsenters to get along peronally and have some kind of genuine believable friendship – this doesnt show when they are presenting. I like the show but it feels like theres no harmony between them…

    • My opinion differs from you i personaly think Adrian & Zoe work well together and although some of his food may not be to her taste she will at least try it i find the show much more enjoyable and entertaining than it once was

  66. My issue with Zoe is her judgments on food. Many of us like cream, pastries, butter etc , however I dislike strongly the way she rolls her eyes, shakes her head disapprovingly, and her critical verbalisations. Some of her stuff seems great but she needs to accept both sides of cooking and not push her healthy barrow constantly. She really annoys me and I have to turn her off until the bold & the beautiful.

    • That’s why she’s there. She’s the good chef he’s the bad chef. He is way over the top. Her food looks great and considering most Aussies are over weight I’d much prefer her cooking than his any day.

  68. I find Zoe so annoying. I wish she would stop waving her hands about every time she opens that mouth of hers. She should also come up with some new phrases. So sick of hearing”that’s an Adrian portion”, “it’s vey indulgent” and “my food is fresh and clean”. She is so hard too watch with all that hand waving, drives me to drink

    • I have to say I agree 100%. She is probably a nice girl, but so darn annoying to watch & listen to. I use to love the show & still try to watch it but, end up turning it off when she starts. Its a shame. She is juts so bloody boring.
